Home. Comforting for many. For me, though, it is a place of tension, uncertainty, and imbalance, influenced not only by the ongoing war in my country but also by my mother's mental illness.
"Vertigo" is a project that reflects my experiences visiting my family in my hometown, Ternopil, Ukraine, while living abroad for four years. Sometimes, I'm greeted with warm homemade food, and other times with violence and uncontrolled emotions.
I keep looking for the healthy parts of my mother that remain—her connection to nature, her moments of kindness, and the glimpses of happiness.
Each visit feels like walking a fine line between moments of love and emotional chaos, leaving me unsteady and disoriented.
